5 Ways to Grow Your Customer Base

River Avenue Digital: grow your customer base

Are you looking to attract more customers to your business? Here are five easy things you can do right now to grow your customer base.

1) Create a Google My Business Account

Businesses with a Google My Business listing appear on Google when potential customers search online. Your Google My Business listing includes important information about your business like your hours, web address, postal address, and phone number. It also displays customer reviews from Google to give your business credibility.

Visit the Google My Business page to create your listing. After setting up your account, you’ll need to then verify your business or claim it (if a listing was previously created).

2) Get Active on Social Media

With so many active users on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms, it’s essential for your business to have an active social presence. This is where your potential customers spend their time.

Your presence on these platforms can help you: Increase brand awareness Generate new leads Position yourself as an expert in your field, and  Encourage potential customers to reach out

3) Update Your Website Content Regularly

When you regularly update your website content, you build trust and authority with your potential customers. One of the easiest ways to generate new web content is to create a blog.

What are the questions potential customers are always asking you about your business? Create a list of these questions and write about them. Google loves seeing new content on your website and will reward you by directing traffic to your site from the search engine results page.

4) Ask for Reviews

Customer reviews are invaluable no matter your industry. Think back to the last time you visited a new business—did you do a quick Google search to see if the business had good reviews? Did you avoid a business with bad reviews or no reviews at all? Many customers base their decision to try out a new business on recommendations and reviews. They might ask their friends and family first. But then they’ll ask Google.

So how can you get more positive reviews? Reach out to your happy customers and ask them to rate their experience with your business. You can point them directly to Google, Facebook, Yelp, or other sites where you want more reviews. A survey is also a great way to capture this information for future use in testimonials.

5) Get to Know Your Customers

Documenting everything you know about your existing customers can help you attract more customers. We recommend creating buyer personas, which are semi-fictional representations of your target audience.

Start grouping each customer by their demographic data, goals, pain points, and the value they add your business. You’ll see trends emerge that you can incorporate into your new client acquisition strategy.
